How restoration works
Our water damage restoration process
Every job in Portland follows the same five steps, from the first phone call to the last coat of paint. Here's what happens and why.
Call (503) 433-86841. Call and dispatch
When you call, we ask where the water is coming from, whether it has been shut off, how large an area is wet, and whether the water is clean, gray or sewage. Those answers decide which crew and equipment we send. We also walk you through shutting off the water and power to wet rooms while the crew is on the way.
2. Inspect and document
On arrival, technicians confirm the source is stopped, check for electrical and structural hazards, and map moisture with meters and thermal imaging. We classify the water (Category 1 clean, 2 gray, 3 contaminated) and photograph every affected area. You get a scope of work before drying starts.
3. Extract water
Truck-mounted or portable extractors remove standing water from floors and carpet. Weighted tools press water out of carpet pad. Removing liquid water first makes the drying step days shorter.
4. Dry and monitor
Air movers pull moisture out of walls, subfloor and framing; commercial dehumidifiers remove it from the air. Where readings allow, walls are dried in place through small holes behind baseboards rather than torn out. We return daily to record readings, and equipment stays until materials reach normal dry levels, usually 3 to 5 days.
5. Repair and restore
Once the structure is confirmed dry, we replace what had to be removed: drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinets and paint. All moisture logs and photos are kept together for your insurance adjuster.
